This report outlines the Manchester Young Carers Group's.
intention to address the issue of transition in young carers.
As the Group’s Chairman and Leader, | have made it a priority in
2018 to explore this issue with the Group so that we can get our
message across to you, so that we can work towards improving
lives for young carers in Manchester. The members of the Group
have provided their knowledge of transition through personal,
lived experiences, as well as the experiences of others and a
general overview of the impact that the lack of effective transition
has for young carers.
This report will explore different aspects of transition with quotes
from members of the Young Carers Group about their
experiences of what support was given to them when they
transitioned through their childhood
This report is the only report created by young carers, and as the
Group's Chairman and Leader, | am immensely proud of the young
carers that have engaged with this issue and whom are willing to
address it so that you, the person who is reading this, have a
better understanding of what transition is really like.
The Vice-Chairman of Manchester Young Carers Group, Arron
Parker-Bowler, has been integral to the Young Carers Group by
engaging with members and allowing them to open up with
sharing their experiences and being a role model for young carers
to look up to. For me personally, he has been effective in the
creation of this report, as well as representing the Group and
assisting me in leading this topic on transition.
| hope that this report empowers you to improve the transition of
young carers in Manchester. Together, we can and will make a
difference.
