Counter-IED Training Innovation

Cobham has developed a powerful virtual reality
system to support training of leading-edge IED
detection technologies. The system replicates
traditional training techniques in a computer-
generated environment and brings a new level of
flexibility and cost efficiency to this increasingly
important element of every soldier’s basic
training.
With IEDs remaining an enduring threat for
worldwide military operations, this innovative
virtual-reality technology is designed to provide
instructors with a synthetic environment where
they can familiarise students with a hand-
held detector, helping them to gain a better
understanding of how it responds to different
target types buried in typical ground conditions.

SAILOR SART II is used to locate a survival

craft or distressed vessel by creating a
series of dots on a rescuing ship’s radar
display.

When in standby mode the SAILOR SART

II is triggered by any X-band radar with-
in a range of approximately 8 nautical
miles. The SAILOR SART II automatically
transmits a response signal which is swept
across the complete radar frequency
band, and clearly identifies the survival
craft.

The signal is made up of a stream of 12

in-line dots. At some point in each sweep,
the SAILOR SART II frequency will match
that of the interrogating radar and will
produce a response on the radar display,
thus a line of 12 dots equally spaced by
about 0.64 nautical mile will be shown.

Once activated, the SAILOR SART II will

remain in standby mode for over 96
hours.

A SART will only respond to a 9 GHz

X-band (3 cm wavelength) radar. It will not
be seen on S-band (10 cm) or other radar.

ND-SV003
See Through Wall Radar System

66
System Overview
ND-SV003 See Through Wall Radar System is specially designed for localization of
living people behind walls or optically nontransparent obstacles during antiterrorism
operations, natural disaster rescue missions, avalanche recovery search, or locating
people trapped in smoke filled rooms.

Based on its highlighted feature of long range, high resolution and strong
penetrability, the ND-SV003 provides a best-in-class solution for government
agencies, such as Police force, SWAT, Drug Enforcement Officers, Army, Navy, Air
Force and Fire department.

System Configuration
The system consists of the radar host, removable battery, battery charger and
terminal PAD. The radar host is including transmitter module, receiver module and
signal processing module for complete detection. The Terminal PAD is a tablet,
which displays the target information inside the building. It can be operated remotely
by a field engineer in a secondary location or attached to the radar host and
operated as one unit.

System Advantages
 Strong penetration
It is able to penetrate a 50cm brick & concrete solid wall to detect the human
target within 30m.

 Real time
It is able to detect and display multiple moving targets in real time.

 High resolution
±5cm in distance, ±0.5m in position (depending on situations)

 Multiple targets two dimension positioning

It is able to detect multiple moving and motionless targets with a clear two
dimensional display.

 Strong environmental suitability

It is able to work all time & in all-weather conditions. The performance of the
ND-SV003 is not impacted by rain, haze, snow, dust, smoke or darkness.

ND-MU001
Multi-rotors UAV

69
Product Description
ND-MU001 Multi-rotors UAV is a specially designed hydrogen fuel cell
powered multi-rotors UAV. Compared with normal multi-rotor drones which
use lithium ion batteries, the ND-MU001 has much longer endurance and
accordingly enables wider applications.

By taking the advantages of hydrogen fuel cell, the ND-MU001 efficiently

eliminates the failures of carrying out tasks due to insufficient cruising abilities.

The ND-MU001 has demonstrated an endurance of 3 hours (no payload) in

the field, which is currently the world record.

When carrying a variety of small functional pods, the ND-MU001 is able to

complete the key area inspection, public security enforcement, aerial
photograph, terrain reconnaissance and other tasks.

three categories:
ƒ Short Range Omni Tx Omni Rx
ƒ Medium Range Omni Tx High Gain Rx

The antennas used on the transmit and receive sites are the primary factors that determine the
range of each system. Maximum distances are based on the frequency, transmitter power,
