My name’s Yen Nhi, am 21 years old and In front of you is The One Pillar Pagoda, Vietnamese people often call it is “Chùa Một Cột” or “Liên Hoa Đài”. It was one of VN’s most iconic pagoda in Ha Noi. Rising from one pillar in the center of an elegantly square shaped lotus pond, The One Pillar Pagoda is said to represent one lotus flower growing up out of the water. It was built between the years of 1028 to 1054 during The reign of Emperor Ly Thai Tong of the Ly Dynasty. You can see, The little temple was constructed from wood based on a single stone pillar 1,25m in diameter and 4m in height crafted into the shaped of one lotus flower blossom in a muddy pond. It had been rebuit several times with the original wood pillar. You know, Vietnamese legend claims that The One Pillar Pagoda was built following a dream by the fatherless Emperor in which the enlightened being Quan Am gave him a baby son resting on a lotus flower. The Ly Emperor remained in gratitude to Bodhissatva and subsequently to Quan Am, The Godess of Mercy following the birth his baby son. From the courtyard to the temple, visitors will go through 13 steps, two brick wall with stone introduction of the pagoda. Inside the temple a richly gilded staue of Quan Am takes center place of main altar. Prayer take place continuously throughout the day. Praying at The One Pillar Pagoda is said to bring everybody blessing of fertility & health. So, I think you are very very lucky to be standing here right now! Okay!
