How to Separate an Employee

Simply email HRdata@hillsboroughcounty.org. In the email be sure to provide us with the

following information:

 The employee name

 Employee ID number
 The rehire code (yes, no, or provisional)
 The effective date which is the last day the employee was at work
 Who will be responsible for their direct reports (for managers and supervisors only)
 If they are a part-time or temporary employee

How to choose a rehire code?

 Yes: Yes would be used for a good employee who we should have little or no
reservations about rehiring.

 No: No would be used when performance or disciplinary issues indicate that this is an
individual we should not reemploy. If a “no” response is selected, a description of why it
was selected is required. The Director of Human Resources will have final approval.

 Provisional: Used when the issues/concerns for this individual were more about job,
location, fit, personal circumstances, etc. Depending on the circumstances it is believed
that in another position, department, location, etc. the individual might make a
successful employee.

 Ineligible per Settlement: Ineligible per Settlement is to be used when the individual is
not eligible for rehire per the terms of a legal settlement.
