UNM Defeats Colorado College with Late Goal

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- The University of New Mexico BOX SCORE (PDF)
women's soccer team defeated Colorado College 2-1 on

ROSTER
Even though the Lobos (10-5-2, MW 6-2-2) remained
scoreless in the first half, they were able to create
momentum and put pressure on Colorado College (8-6-2, MW 4-4-2) that would later prove to be beneficial.

The Tigers opened the scoring shortly after halftime as Jacqui Hand was able to find the back of the net within
the first three minutes of the half.

"It's resolve, it's character," said UNM head coach Heather Dyche. "When you go down, does the team
implode or step up? And every time that we went down this season, they seem to find a way, and to me that
shows a massive sign of who they are. They don't get internal and get mad at each other, they work harder."

Colorado College led the game for a short while, but UNM was quick to answer back. Mackenna Havenor had
an open look in the 67th minute and capitalized on her opportunity, shooting past the goalie to put the Lobos
on the board with the unassisted goal.

With the momentum now in their favor, the Lobos held the game at one goal apiece. With 17 minutes left in the
game, Colorado College found an open look, however Lobo goalie Emily Johnson read the play and was there
for the save, denying a chance for the Tigers to take the lead. The junior finished with four saves on the
afternoon, three of which came in the second half.

In the 87th minute of the game, Jenna Killman fired a shot onto the goal which was denied by Odom, but
Olguin was there for the rebound and was able to bury the ball, giving the Lobos a 2-1 lead with a little more

than three minutes to go in the game.

UNM maintained the lead and walked off the field with another win on the season. This was the Lobos last
home game of the season, capping off their senior week with two wins at home.

The team will close out its regular-season at San Diego State on October 26.
