Note the American flag decal, yellow surround to the cocarde and residual ‘shadow’ of the RAF roundel. Zendegui’ final score was three destroyed. (Cogal) No. 4 in the Classic Warbirds series ‘American Spitfire — Camouflage and Markings Part 2’ is the fourth book in the Classic Warbirds Series. It continues the story of the colours and markings worn by the 600 plus Spitfires operated by the USAAF and US Navy. This is still very much a living subject, with new material coming to hand continually. He plans to publish a major work on fighter escort doctrine in the USAAK in the future.
