State all assumptions for the below K-value expression to be valid. =P Kea (2 marks) b) Separation process is important in a chemical plant for purification of desired products. Consider a single-stage liquid-vapor separation system for benzene(1) and toluene(2) operates at atmospheric pressure. Assume the validity of Raoult’s law, i) By using K-value correlation, determine the bubble point temperature if an equimolar mixture of benzene and toluene is fed to the vessel. [The range of temperature is between 363.15 K and 367.15 K] (10 marks) ji) Determine the compositions of benzene and toluene in both liquid and vapor phases at temperature of 100°C. (8 marks) QUESTION 2 (P01, PO2, CO2, C2, C4) a) Partial molar enthalpy (J/mol) of species 1 and 2 for a binary liquid mixture at T and P are represented by Hi, = 220 + 60x, -150x? + 80x? i, =130-30x? + 80x? i) Show that these expressions satisfy the Gibbs/Duhem equation at constant T and P. (4 marks) ii) Find expression for molar enthalpy of the binary liquid mixture at T and P.
