Fix the Venturimeter through the pipe.

The flow was varied in the ‘ D ‘ piezometer of the Venturi.

Then the hydraulic bench lever was turned on and allow water to flow through the Venturi.

The time for flow was taken as the system reached equilibrium before and as soon after placing the
mass.

The Volume of the water is calculated according to the weight placed on the hanger at one end.

The ratio pivoted on the system is 1 : 3 ( Left : Right )

And in this experiment as a mass of 2.5 kg ,

Weight = m*a = 2.5*9.81 = 24.525 N

the weight of water = ( 24.525 x 3 ) = 73.575 N

W = VLG

V = W ÷ ( L*G)

V = 73.575 ÷ ( 1000*9.81 )

V = 0.0075 m3

Procedure

1. At first, the dimensions of the collecting tank were measured using a measuring tape and were noted.

2.Then, the water supply was opened to allow water to fill in the balancing tank and through the test

section.

3. Afterwards, the flow of water was regulated by adjusting the outlet valve and also ensured that the
water levels in the Piezometers are steady.

4. As soon as the Piezometers levels were steady, the rise of water in the collecting tank was measured
and its time taken using a stop watch.

5. In that meantime, the height of water in the piezometer tubes was noted.

6. The same steps were repeated for lower head in the piezometer tubes and different flow rate.
