Accounting, I must admit, is a very challenging subject.

Ever since my first year in college

when we took up Accounting 1 or ACCTBA1, the subject has challenged both my critical and

analytical thinking. We didn’t take up Accounting back in high school, which made it more

difficult as the concepts are all foreign to me. I must admit that I didn’t have a good start with my

ACCTBA1 class. My grade left me frustrated and defeated. There came a time wherein I would

delay taking up ACCTBA classes because of my fear of the course. 3 years later, I am now in my

last term in DLSU, and I can genuinely say that my appreciation for accounting has heightened. It

started when I was taking my ACCTBA2 class whose lessons are parallel to that of my

BUSLAW2, both discussing Partnerships and Corporation. I enjoyed ACCTBA2 as I can relate it

to my BUSLAW2 lessons, and vice versa. I was even more motivated because compared to my

ACCTBA1 class, I understand the concepts and the computations better.

ACCTBA3 which is a course on Managerial Accounting, is quite different from

ACCTBA1 and ACCTBA2 yet some concepts remain the same. Out of all three courses, I must

say this one is the most relatable one for a business major. This is because it is concerned with

providing information to the internal management. The whole course is like a guide on how to

become better managers by means of quantifiable reasons. The course is really helpful for people

who plan to start their own business /company one day. It gives you more than enough knowledge

and understanding of what should be considered in order to ensure the success of one’s company.

I honestly enjoyed the course and I’m thankful that I took it before I graduated because I know

that when I go out to the corporate world, everything I learned would be very helpful.
