All the work has been done by me, including typing. For any
error, whatsoever, I may be excused. The photographs were
taken in 1989 with a 135 mm camera.
On 23th, I stayed in the hotel provided by the British Council and roamed
about the city. I just wandered around the city waiting for my wife,
Farzana who was reaching London the next day.
In the evening of 24th, our host, a family friend, took me from the Hotel to
their residence, where I spent the night and next day in the evening we
went to Heathrow to receive her. She arrived at Heathrow Airport by PIA
at Terminal 3 at 15:45 where we were available to receive her; and
brought her to our host place; and a new phase of our journey started.

We made our friend’s house our base camp and started roaming about
in and around London. All the time we had to travel, we used to buy the
London Transport Travel Card, valid for the bus and the Under
Ground. This made our traveling economical and swift.
I had been to the places in London earlier, therefore, the revisit was
easier and we started our visit from the most prominent places of
London. For the first four or five days we remained in London and saw
the places like Parliament House, Big Ben, Victoria Park, Westminster
Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circle, Trafalgar Square, 10
Downing Street, Madame Tsade, National Museum, Regent Park, Tower
Bridge and many other places in and around London. It was an
experience of its own kind. We, most of the time, together and some
time with the host family were roaming here and there freely and
leisurely enjoying every moment of our stay there. It was quite an
exciting experience to visit the places again with Farzana which was our
dream. We were quite happy and enthusiastic about our visit and
enjoying every bit of it.

TOWER BRIDGE
1989
Tower Bridge and London are synonymous. I had already been to this
place but still was feeling the thrill to be there. Now, both of us together
were looking at every inch of this iconic monument.

THE PARLIAMENT HOUSE
BIG BEN
Big Ben is the name for the Great Bell of the Clock at the North End of
the Parliament House in London. The official name of the tower in which
Big Ben is located was originally the Clock Tower, but it was renamed
Elizabeth Tower in 2012 to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Elizabeth II of
the Great Britain.
The Tower Bridge, Parliament and the Big Ben are the most prominent
places which really represent the Great Britain. It was our biggest desire
that one day we two could see these places together and our dream
came true when we saw all those places associated with this Small
Island with Big Stories.

REGENT PARK
LONDON
Regent's Park is one of the Royal Parks of London. It lies within North-
West London, partly in the City of Westminster and partly in the London
Borough of Camden.
This park was an attraction for us for another reason as well i.e. the
Central Mosque.
One day we went there and saw every nook and corner. We went to the Central
Mosque and visited the Cultural Centre as well. Spent some time there and
interacted with the people in the Centre.

OXFORD
One day we made a plan to visit Oxford, famous, for its Education
Institutions. We went there by road in the morning and stayed there for
the whole day. Hearing about the city and its Education Institutions since
our childhood, it was an amazing experience to see those by ourselves.
We saw a number of collages, the classrooms; met students and
teachers and talked to them and discussed small matters. We had had
tea and snacks in the campus and enjoyed very much. We even went to
the canal and saw the students rowing there.

The Piece Hall was built as a Cloth Hall for Handloom Weavers to sell
the woolen cloth "pieces" they had produced. It opened with 315
separate rooms arranged around a central open courtyard. One day we
visited this place with our hostess; and when we went it was really a fun
to see the place and its surroundings.

Shibden Hall is about a mile away from Halifax; and dates back 1420
AD, located in a very big park. It offers visitors a fascinating journey
through the lives of the people who lived and worked here through the
history.
While at Halifax we learnt about this place and I with Farzana visited it.
This House was really giving a fascinating look. It was well preserved
giving the look of a historical old house. I still can recollect all the details
of place.

BIRTHDAY
During our stay one of them had his birthday. They formally invited us
that evening. As a token of respect, we bought a beautiful Coaster Set
and presented as a gift. They were very happy.
They specially arranged delights which we enjoyed and stayed with
them till late at night on their insistence. The lady also gave Farzana a
beautiful handmade doll. We talked about all the subject on earth in an
amicable way; and enjoyed the evening very much.

BRONTE SISTERS
We had some focus on centers of literatures, especially the places of
famous poets and other literary figures. While at Halifax we heard about
Haworth, the place of Bronte Sisters. It increased our anxiety to see the
place, so, one day we went to Haworth, about 16kms West of Bradford.
On our arrival we saw a beautiful small town and the Bronte Sisters
House (Bronte Parsonage) near a Church and a Graveyard which
reminded me some scenes form Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. We
remained in the town for quite a long time and went outside the town,
also, in the wide fields – Beauty – Beauty – all around.

During our stay in England we made all efforts to see as
many as we could. So we did so and made our trip as
enjoyable as possible. In this regard we are thankful to
our relations, friends, the English People and GB
Authorities and all the people with whom we came in
contact. Everybody was kind and help; and with Grace
of God Almighty nothing unpleasant either in action,
gestures or verbatim, we came across.

I, Maqsood Ahmad Khan, after having the
Master Degree in Economics from the
Government College, Lahore (Punjab
University) in 1972, qualified the
Competitive Examination for Civil Services
of Pakistan 1974 and joined Traffic
(Transportation & Commercial Group) of
Pakistan Railways. I rose to the level of
General Manager (Welfare & Training); and
completed my services on 4th March 2010,
after attaining superannuation. During the
service, I could visit many a countries, viz
Belgium, Canada, Egypt , England, France,
Holland, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia,
Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri
Lanka, Sudan, Switzerland, UAE, USA, West
Germany in connection with foreign
assignments, training, meetings, visits and
studies; alone or with the members of my
family. To make theses journeys
memorable, the use of the camera was a
tool with me. The collection of the
photographs thus taken, when seen at the
later years, gave an account of travels
round the world, which I am sharing with
others as information; memoir or self-
actualization. Hope, the readers would
enjoy my Pictorial Travelogue. For any
