Nisveta,

A very good start with website that will serve as your course portfolio. As you complete the
design, be sure to respond carefully to my summary feedback and the drafts with my marginal
comments that I returned to you. I don’t find those here in this draft of the portfolio. I will be
looking in the final version of the portfolio to see directly how well you were able to respond to
my comments for each project.

In your short statement of the portfolio’s objective you should name the course (not just the
number) and refer to the two overarching goals stated in the course portfolio assignment sheet
– show development and strong finished products:

On the project pages, you should similarly paraphrase or quote from the assignment sheets to
add the instructor’s criteria to your statement of the purpose and audience for each assignment
and edit carefully. As it now is, there are many, many typographic errors. This shows the errors
from just one page:

“For this assignment we had to created both a business card and letterhead. I
loved working on this project, it really allowed me to play with color shcemes,
fonts, desgins, and so on. I think this assignement was by far my favorite one
through out the semester. I think the hardest thing about this assignemnt was
deciding what colors to use. Your standard businesscards are black and white,
very clean cut but I wanted to do something different and I wanted mine to stand
out from the others of course. This project allowed me to be creative and free
which I love to do when working on an assigment because I feel like my
assignemtns reflect me and my personality.”

Also, on each project page, I like the introductory paragraphs, but those should probably be left
aligned rather than all-centered. Then you should head or caption each of the series of memos
and drafts. As it is, I can’t just jump into a particular document like the “peer editing,” for
example, without reading the opening of each memo. Add a heading or caption for each if you
can. It is especially important that I be able to jump quickly to the “Portfolio” draft of each
finished document.
Graphically, why this black and white color pallet? The only exception is your portrait. Any
intended connotations of this banner image of broken lightbulbs? What do you hope it suggests
to viewers? Did you include Alt text for the portrait and banner images for the visually
impaired? If not, why not?

In terms of navigation, did you test the site on different platforms and browsers? If so, what did
you find? Do you plan additional usability tests? Your email address is not presented as an
active link to the “mailto” function and probably should be.

Tone-wise, treat this slightly more formally. Write “UNC Charlotte” rather than “UNCC” for
example.
