Introduction:-
Section 182 of The Indian Contact Act, 1872 defines an ‘Agent’ as “a person employed to do any act
for another, or to represent another in dealing with third person” and a ‘Principal’ as “The person
for whom such an act is done, or who is so represented”.
The law of agency is based on the Latin maxim “qui facit per alium, facit per se,” which means,
“He who acts through another is deemed in law to do it himself”.
In contract of agency there exists a legal relationship between two persons, one of which acts on
behalf of the other. An agent has the legal capacity to act on behalf of the principal to the third party.
Objectives:-
1. To have a comprehensive study on the Contract of Agency.
2. To discuss the important cases related to agency contract.
3. To understand the distinction between agent, servant, sub agent and substituted agent.

Hypothesis:-
There is prior and a little knowledge about principle agent rlationship
Method of Study:-
The proposed piece of work is based in Doctrinal Method largely based on secondary and electronic
sources of data.
