PREFACE
Thus natural 7th house libra and 7th lord Venus have a say
in marital matters and rather all matters denoted by 7th house.
As all of us know that 7th house from any house is the
completion house for that very house. When we say ascendant
is the physical self, the embodiment of the soul, it is very natural
to assume that 7th is the house of physical union. So, rightly we
connect marriage with 7 th house. Moreso, the sense of
completeness is justified when ‘shatpatha brahamana’ says, ’one
is incomplete without having a wife and a son’.
About 7th house and it’s linkage with marriage has been
discussed in our texts like mantres‘wara has described in
chapter 10 of Phaladeepika, parashara has described about 7th
house and marriage in ‘chapter 18 of Brihat parashara hora
shastra’ and many a number of texts like jataka sara dipa, Sanketa
nidhi, Saravali etc. Have discussed the 7th house, 7th lord and
Venus’s placement and effects in all the houses and how Venus
and 7th lord behaves regarding marriage and also the dual
lordship of 7th house lord and it’s mitigated effects regarding
marital matters.
Even sage jaimini, has called the 7th house pada or arudha
as ‘dara pada’(when dara stands to denote the spouse.) Also in
char karakas the 7th karaka with least longitude is called as dara
karaka which is identical with the 7th house lord while predicting
marital matters through jaimini system. Also in jaimini astrology,
7th house from lagna, pada lagna, dara pada, karkamsa lagna,
dara- karaka etc. Are considered to predict about the physical
health, beauty and intellect of the spouse, and to know the
quality and life of married life. This thing justifies that 7th house
holds primary importance in marital matters.
Now, the point arises here why do we consider only 7th
house for marital matters when we know that ‘kaama triplicity’
houses are 3, 7, 11 houses and in kaalpurush horoscope, 3, 7,
11 signs i.e. Gemini, libra, aquarius are air signs and air signs
are connected with mind and mental experiences. 7th is most
important house of kaama trikone there are two reasons for this.

travels, marriage, loose sex life and a lot more. All other classical
texts like ‘LAGHU JATAKAM’, ‘BRIHAD YAVANA JATAKA, ’
‘SARVARTHA CHINTAMANI’, BHAVA PRAKAS`A etc., relate 7th
house mainly with marriage and spouse and also additional
related matters like trade, open enemies, public image, passions
and pride, matters of coming and going, urinary tract etc.
Also acc. To theory of bhavat bhavam, 7th house is a powerful
house from almost all important houses like it is 5th from 3rd
house and 3rd from 5th, it is 9th from 11th house and 11th from
9th, 7th is also strong kendra as it is 4th from 4th and 10th from
10th house. This is how, 7th houses denotes all important matters
like, marriage, practical involvements, open enemy or
competitors, social image, social interactions, professional
distinctions, and fructification of desires.
However the positivity or negativity of these areas is
indicated by planetary influences on 7th house in individual
horoscopes.
Finally, if we take a broader viewpoint, artha stands for
material prosperity and kaama shows material satisfaction.
Artha and kaama triplicities form preyas which work in the
direction of shreyas (dharma and moksha triplicities) i.e. the
spiritual summit.
‘Dharma trikona’ is for regularization of artha and kaama
in such a manner that we are led towards moksha which is
ultimate goal of life.
Our vedas which are fountain head of knowledge are the
means to acquire happiness or preyas and shreyas. While preyas
is the temporal happiness and shreyas is eternal happiness
through gnana which is removal of avidya. Understanding it all
in a wider perspective is the whole point in it.

After vedic period comes the-
Puranic period (8300 B. C. – 3000 B. C.)
Ramayana (upto 5000 B. C.)
Mahabharat (5000- 3000 B. C.)
In this period there were 18 pravartakas who improved
astrological knowledge and spread it worldwide. List of 18
pravartakas include most important names of sages who have
given a hoard of information about marriage and predictive
astrology in their respective works. The list includes, SURYA,
ATTRI, NARADA, MANU, PAULISHA, YAVANA, PITAMAHA,
PARASHAR, GARGA, ANGIRA, CHYAVANA, BHRIGU, VASHISHTA,
KASHYAPA, MARICHA, LOMASHA, VYAS, & SHAUNAK.
Mathematical and astronomy was written during this time.
There were two parts of astrology Hora (natal astrology) and
Samhitas (mundane and meterological astrology)
In indian classical thoughts, marriage was deemed not as a
mere compromise for setting up a new family, but it was one of

Libra, the natural 7th house of the zodiac, and it’s ruler Venus
both stand for our criterion for making choices and creating a
balance with in ourselves. Tula, literally means scale and it comes
from the latin “librum” or the scales, meaning balance. It refers
to the seventh sign of the zodiac.

The planet Venus in any birth chart, will be in one of the
twelve signs of the zodiac, but will never be more than two signs
away from the sign of the Sun in their birth chart, because Venus
is so close to the Sun and never appears very far away when we
observe it from earth. Venus takes an average of one month to
travel through a sign. In ancient mythology, Venus is the roman
goddess associated with feminine traits, receptivity and deal of
love and beauty and so does the greek goddess aphrodite.
While judging the planet in astro studies, named after Venus,
it is associated with.
• The capacity to love and expression of feeling of love and
affection to others,
• The ability for attracting love and loved ones.
• The capacity and wisdom to enjoy all kinds of relationships.

amalgamating with natural force of lagna house.
Considerations of placement of Venus is to be analysed from
3 points in order of relevance.
7th house, strongly hints at the marriage which affects the whole
dynasty and lineage of the native. The social reputation will be
upgraded by marriage unless the Venus in 4th is very afflicted
or combust etc.
COUNTING OF HOUSE FROM LAGNA HOUSE (THE PIVOTAL
HOUSE IN KAALPURUSHA HOROSCOPE DENOTING

artha triplicity (ruling all material things and success) will not
logically deny wealth to the native. 6th house is also standing for
money as it is 10 th from 9 th house of horoscope. Most
importantly as 6th house from lagna is not a good house and
denotes, strifes, litigation and native pushes himself too hard
to prove himself. The emotional planet like Venus can not be
called well placed even if in exalted state sign wise. Logic behind
is the prime role of Venus in one’s life is to add to aesthetism/
beauty and love in one’s life through material assests and
through live partners and sharing through them. 6th house is
not for caring /sharing rather it is indicative of enemies and
debts/litigations etc. By no means Venus should be in a
comfortable position in 6th house and native has to suffer
emotional jerks, emotional wreckage when ever concerned

from natural 7th house that is Libra. This again is a good
placement for Venus to give results pertaining to 7th house
matters. The sexual energy or the shakthi represented by 7th
house of zodiac is having it’s reserves in 8th house. Hence much
energized house is the 8th house giving the native a true
knowledge about all kinds of arts/ feelings as well as a fairly
good judgement of emotions and love /sex etc. This is positive
outcome when natural 7th house energy merges with 8th house
of deep analysis and research.

house therefrom. Broadly we can take dharma trikone as Aries
denoting physical entity of adipurusha, Leo is the mental energy
of adipurusha and saggittarius as the soul power and strength
of adipurusha. In this very pattern, Libra becomes integral part
of Aries being 7th from it and so becomes Aquarius to Leo and
Gemini for saggittarius. Housewise if we consider in any
horoscope, lagna and 7th house, fifth and 11th house and 9th and
3rd house are integral part of each other.
From above explanation about concept of shakthi, finally it
is approved by all schools of though that adishakthi is endowed
with three kinds of empowerment in human life.
Iccha, kriya and gyana shakthi.
Considering the astrological aspect of this differentiation,
these three planets form a triplicity of arth and kaama. Artha
triplicity comprises of Tauras, Virgo and Capricorn, denoting
ichha. Kriya and gyaan shakthi. This trikone is workable on
material planes when non living objects and grossly material
objectives are discussed.
Second triplicity is called kaama trikone – starts with Gemini,
Libra and Aquarius. Mercury rules, iccha shakthi as it rules third
house, kriya shakthi is ruled by Venus and gyana shakthi is
controlled by Saturn.
When we believe in above said explanation that the central
force of these three shaktis is brahma which is always alive in
the form of soul then it is justified that soul (jeeva) depicted
through lagna as purusha and as the doer and keeping it alive is
the job of shakthi denoted by 7th house and broadly defined by
kaama trikone in context of human relationships and evolution
and emancipation of the soul (jeeva)

DEFINITION OF KSHETRA-
When first house is the reservoir of all prana shakthi in
oneself, 7th house decides for the field of activity. Literally
speaking beejam means the energy one has by birth and one is
destined to make use of that energy in one way or the other.
What shall be the field of activity to utilize that basic energy
wheather the seed will get a fertile soil for it’s germination or
not it is decided by 7th house and planetary influence in 7th by
placement, aspects and conjunction.
In female native’s chart, ‘kshetra sphutam’ is calculated to
find out wheather she is fertile enough for reproduction or not.
In wider perspective of the meaning of beejam and
kshetram, these terms are not restricted to just procreation and
producing another life. It has a greater meaning to it. As lagna
acts as purusha shakthi (male energy) denoting vital energy or
life force and 7th acts as prakriti (female energy) denoting the
dissipation /utilization of the vital force. Hence lagna’s strength
and planetary influence on it of denotes the quality and strength
of soul by all means and 7th house stands for application of that
force to bring out the desired results by the soul concerned.

Special point here is, in a female natal chart, mutual
aspectual or any other kind of mutual relationship between Sun

If dara pad sign or the sign lord, falls in angular houses from
lagna, delays or struggle indicated in pursual of marriage.
Promise of marriage is there.
If dara pad sign or the sign lord falls in trik houses (6, 8,
12th houses) of the horoscope marriage plans can be over
delayed or strifes, litigations or diseases can damage the marital
bliss.
— However, 2nd, 3rd and 11th house placement of 7th pad or it’s
lord can give mixed results depending on other factors.
— Some benefic /yogakaraka planet placed in these four places
— Putrakaraka or darakaraka planet placed in these houses
— Atma karaka or amatyakaraka planets placed here
— Gnathi karaka or any malefic planet should not be in these
key houses.
All the above yogas will contribute towards marital
harmony and social esteem.

maximum effect and impact on marriage regarding quality and
number of relationships and timing of marriage.

14-15. Worthy spouse. The native will beget a spouse
endowed with (the seven principal) virtues, who will
expand his dynasty by sons and grandsons, if the 7th Lord

16. Evils to spouse. If 7th House, or its Lord is conjunct with a
malefic the natives wife will incur evils, especially, if 7th
House, or its Lord is bereft of strength.
17. Loss of spouse. If 7th Lord is devoid of strength and is
relegated to 6th, 8th, or 12th, or, if 7th Lord is in fall, the natives
wife will be destroyed (i. e. she will die early).
18. Lack of conjugal felicity. If Moon is in 7th, as 7th Lord is in
12th and the Karaka (indicator Venus) is bereft of strength,
the native will not be endowed with marital happiness.
19-21. Plurality of wives. One will have two wives, if 7th Lord
is in fall, or in a malefic Rasi along with a malefic, while 7th
House, or the 7th Navamsa belong to a eunuch planet. If Mars
and Venus are in 7th, or, if Saturn is 7th, while the Lord of
Lagna is in 8th, the native will have 3 wives. There will be
many wives, if Venus is in a Dual Rasi, while its Lord is in
exaltation, as 7th Lord is endowed with strength.
22. Timing of marriage (upto Sloka 34). If 7th Lord is in a
benefics House (or in 9th, as Subha Rasi so means) , while
Venus is exalted, or is in own Rasi, the native will marry at
the age of 5, or 9.
23. If Sun is in 7th, while his depositor is conjunct with Venus,
there will be marriage at 7th, or 11th year of age.
24. Venus in 2nd, while 7th Lord is in 11th will give marriage at
the age of 10, or at age of 16.
25. Marriage will take place during the 11th year, if Venus is in
an angle from Lagna, while Lagna Lord is in Capricorn, or
Aquarius.

MY PERSONAL VIEWPOINT-
All the above authentic texts have a similar point that 7th
lord in 1st house indicates, that the native is attracted to wives
of others which doesn’t seem logical to me. As I have discussed
in above chapters that 7th house denotes shakthi the force of
kundalini which is inseparable from shiva tattwa denoted by
lagna. This 7th house is prakriti which energises is purusha
tattwa. 7th lord aspecting own house from lagna means lots of
good factors in marriage and dealing with marital mate. I will
give some more points in support of my viewpoint.
POINT:1 RESULT BASED ON HOUSE TRIPLICITY- As lagna
is in dharma triplicity which has natural affinity with kaama
trikone. (1, 5, 9, and 3, 7, 11th signs /houses will always have
trinal/opposition/sextile axis mutually which denotes harmony)
DHARMA TRIPLICITY also stands for righteousness and decides
the swa dharma means personal character (tendencies) of the
native. Marriage house lord thus linked here will give a
relationship which shall be imbibed in basic personality of the
native. That means the native shall be much involved and sincere
towards who so ever he connects to as marital mate.
POINT:2 RESULT BASED ON BHAVAT BHAAVAM- As we
know 7th house is the completion house thus 7th lord in lagna

As all the modern authors are difficult to refer here, I am
opining by referring only two important books by stalwarts in
the field of astrology, Sh. Gaur and Mrs. Mridula trivedi. With all
due respect for their contribution in the field, I am just trying to
highlight the vague and generalized, non result oriented
combinations of planets which need in depth analysis and
further scrutinization to actually reach a conclusion pertaining
to marriage. Every yoga will give different result in different
horoscope as every natal chart is distinct and planets operate
in reference to individual chart differently and not the general
way.
Although, MRS. MRIDULA TRIDEVI and SH. GAUR would
have depicted all these yogas, on the basis of their personal
experience, as well as in reference to the B. P. H. S. and a hoard
of other texts, still there is room for much improvements and
plugging of loop holes in defining planetary combinations.
Both the authors I am quoting, are truly knowledgeable and
I have really learnt a lot from their books, like- Sh. R. p. gaur’s
book DAMPATYA JEEVAN AUR JYOTISHA and MRS. MRIDULA
TRIVEDI’S BOOK ON TIMING MARRIAGE AS WELL AS “A
COMPENDIUM OF MARRIAGE VOL. 1 AND VOL 2”which deals
with almost every aspect of marriage. My idea of re- discussing
the parameters given in these books is solely to extend the
meaning behind the working of each planet and to pin point
the absolute result in different perspectives and in co-relation
with different planets.

7th LORD/HOUSE
VENUS‘S CONDITION AND QUALITY
Both the stalwarts in the field of astrology, seem to be
unanimous at the point that affliction to 7th house/ 7th lord/
Venus and lagna by Saturn, Rahu, Ketu and trika houses cause
delay or denial in marriage.
The significators planets for considering marriage however
are always same for anyone that is 7th lord, Venus, Mars and
Jupiter and fields of operations (houses) also remaining same
for any native. So trika houses are considered bad regarding
marital matters and 1/7 axis taken as field for marital pursual.
In addition negative significators like Rahu/kethu Sun or Saturn
are generally taken for discord /problems in relationships but
there can be a hoard of permutation and combinations made
by these planets which alter the results and thus making every
chart operative in a distinctive way with differing set of
combinations by the above told planets and houses.
In the following yogas, both the authors are giving clear cut
yogas for no marriage and the delays/denial of marriage and
the efficacy and authenticity of such planetary combinations is
highly doubtful. The planets as such do play the role but not in
exact combinations as told in these books.
MY PERSONAL VIEWS-
The points and parameters of consideration are same but
the method of depiction is vague and unclear. Out of above told
many yogas, not even a single yoga is applicable as it is. In every
natal chart, results of combination will vary on account of
different lagnas, and altogeather different planetary set up.

Understanding Navamsa
Connection in Marriage
The logic here is that the rasi chart is the tree, navamsa chart
stands to tell if the tree is laden with fruit or not and thus known
as the ‘fruit of the tree’. It is not considered to be the chart of
‘the spouse and marriage in literal sense, rather the logic behind
is that the navamsa is the 9th divisional chart and hence relates
to our soul or ‘inner person’ denoting our purpose in life in a
spiritual /divine sense. Marriage also deals with the experiences
of the soul and links one person with the karmic connections
and deals with data of karmic concerns, there is authentic reason
to connect marital experiences with navamsa chart.
In fact, another view is that navamsa stands to represent
the second half of one’as life and deals with the mature soul’s
experiences rather than initial initiatives and efforting /learning
of first phase of life. A close examination of the whole chart is
thus important, but in particular the 1st and 7th houses and their
lords in d-1 as well as in d-9 are vital points regarding marriage
area.
It is utterly logical to get all the possible parameters applied
in d-9 chart and reach a conclusion about any area in a
horoscope.
I have tried to geather all possibilities to judge the strength
of any facet of life through d-9 keeping the base of d-1 chart
intact. (the parameters are collected from texts, books of modern
authors, western authors, as well as my personal views.)
The idea is to practically apply and test the authenticity of
abundant possibilities given in different scriptures and books
and find the real relevant points. The following parameters
reveal how to find whether any planet has enough strength or
is weak in navamsa to fulfill the promise of their positions in
Rashi Chart.
MY POINTS PERTAINING TO ROLE OF NAVAMSA IN
JUDGING MARITAL MATTERS and these parameters truly give
the correct picture regarding marriage aspects and fortune
connected with marriage.

Chapter 12
WHAT IS IN A SYMBOL
The classic yin-yang symbol, seen more and more these
days, is a circular symbol, half-black and half-white, with a small
dot of white on the black side, and a small black dot on the white
side. This symbol is called the Tai Chi Tu.
sky like a lamp of blazing coal and is also said to be rajo guni
and a source of strength, power, activity, ambition and force. In
one of the slokas on Mars, it is treated as something keeping a
ball of fire in it’s mouth.
“Agnimurdha divah kakut pati pruthivyaham
Apam retasi jinavasi”
Agnimurdha is with a head made of fire. Fire here
symbolizes three types of fires when we talk about human
beings.
- jatharagni — fire due to hunger.
- krodhagni — fire of anger
- kaamagni — fire in sexual acts
In the context of above said sloka -
MARS is male in character. It germinates and fertilizes
(jinavasi) the ovum (apam) of women for the purpose of
intercourse (retasi). Varaha mihira in ‘Brihata Jataka’ and kalyan
verma in ‘Saravali‘holds Mars responsible for menstruation in
women. With connection between male Mars representing hot
blood and female Moon make women capable for copulation and
conception. ‘Jataka parijata’ terms Mars as male, sexy energetic
and lustful in the following sloka—
‘Kaami tamogunaratastu dharakumarah’
Sarvarth chintamani—describes Mars as planet of prowess
given to sexual pleasures as in sloka—
‘Bhowmah prataapi ratikilolaha’
Hence it is clear that role of Mars in procreation is vital.
All these factors make Mars an extremely vital planet in
human life span as it will decide the course of present life and
the quality and content of our actions.
Therefore it can be rightly surmised that strength of Mars
has to be watched carefully in the horoscope to make

Moon sign. I am not taking each and every axis separately.
However in my research I have found the Moon lagna ‘s
importance operating in equal measure to lagna. The 1st lord
and 7th lord from Moon lagna will be giving similar results and
should be understandable in same manner as the 1st lord and 7th
lord’s mutual axis from ascendant itself.
INFERENCE - In the above chapter, based on mutual axis
relationship, actually the planets are treated as per the mutual
distance between them to see the mutual goodwill of planetary
energies creating harmony with in oneself.
The whole point is about considering the mutual harmony
between two complementary poles. For instance, ascdt. and the
7th lord are complementary to each other and so are Mars and

system so far as depiction of marriage is concerned, so pada
for planets as told in b. p. h. s. Sshould be counted and that
sign thus obtained should not be holding any retrograde or
combust planet or the gnathikaraka.
All the above signs hold importance regarding marriage so
it is to be checked how many out of these are falling in
barren signs will delay marriage as barren signs stand for
infertility. (barren signs are- GEMINI, LEO, VIRGO AND
ARIES, SAGITTARIUS, AQUARIUS are semi –barren signs.)
c) Timing of marriage
Although this is a vulnerable area and much of research
work is required to really arrive at correct age of marriage.

Timing can be done two ways

Rahu and Ketu are the other major planets generally obstructing
the event.
Under the nadi method, Mars is taken as the karaka planet
for marriage event or for the marital knot.
Venus is depicted as karaka for marital life which can
develop into marital bliss or crucible for suffering.
Transits-
In nadi astrology, transits of Saturn and Jupiter are mainly
considered connecting the karaka planet of an event in the birth
chart for timing the event. Since Mars is the karaka planet for
marriage event, the interaction of Saturn and Jupiter with Mars
during their transit becomes opportune for the marriage event
to occur. The 7th sign depicts partner of the native, the one with
whom the marital knot is tied and the transits of Saturn and
Jupiter with the 7th sign from Mars also becomes opportune.
Jupiter and Saturn interact with natal Mars in birth chart when
they transit over these signs or aspect these signs. Jupiter
transits each sign for about an year and Saturn transits each sign
for about 2 1/2 years. It can be seen that in one’s life span,
Jupiter and Saturn would be interacting with the sensitive point
of marital knot periodically at regular cyclic transits. While it is
prerequisite that Saturn and Jupiter in their transit interact with
Mars natal position to bring about marriage event, it does not
follow that every time Jupiter and Saturn interact with marital
knot sensitive point it would be necessarily result in the
marriage event. The task, therefore, is to elect the particular
transit of Saturn and Jupiter out of the series of transits by
process of eliminating unproductive transits. The step in this
direction is to check whether the karaka for marriage event
Mars comes under situations to cause delay or obstruction.
Rahu’s interaction with Mars can cause impediments or delay
in marriage. Symbolically, Mars is considered as being
swallowed by Rahu.
In nadi astrology, whenever a planet is retrograde in a sign,
it is considered to be in the previous sign also. When Saturn is

In nadi astrology, the transit of major planets is also
considered in the navamsa chart in the fructification of the
event. Since navamsa chart is supposed to represent marriage
aspect, the transit of Saturn and Jupiter over the navamsa lagna
and navamsa lagna lord is considered as additional point for
timing of marriage.
Chapter 15
Wearing relevant gems for sign lords of lagan, 5th and 9th
house in d-1 chart is found to be good remedial measure for
overall improvement in self esteem and luck factor.
As navamsa speaks of the marital life specifically so trinal
houses of d-9 chart may be strengthend by wearing gems of
those lords.
GEM THERAPY as well as COLOUR THERAPY is found
effective for enhancing goodness of significator planets for
marriage and marital harmony. The gems and colours for
different planets hold value to improve the goodness of the planet
to a certain extent.
Similarly, all other factors influencing the 7th house/ lord
are to be scrutinized in the light of logic and hence concrete
and possible outcome can be depicted and then the remedial
