Dear Prof. Baird:

When starting the service-learning I was expecting a lot more tutors and more communication
between my Community Partner. William and I were the only tutors at Kearns Jr High and after
the first week we didn't get any type of communication between are CP but the math teacher
Mrs. Healton made us feel more comfortable and confident on are tutoring. Something that I
learned about myself or remembered about was that I also experienced what most of these kids
were going threw since my Jr High was also a school that faced bullying, violence, drugs and
poor school supplies, I would advise people that motivating and encouraging these kids the
benefits of education and how far it can take them. Showing my interest and involvement in
helping the community will really help me with my major by having a different perspective on
community and bring that to my major and improving to help others, this was great experience
for me and I have to grateful to Prof. Baird for showing us benefits of volunteering.
