Lesson Purpose/ Goal:
To be able to make recommendations on a range site and calculate production per acre

Objectives: Students will:


1. Analyze the description of a range site
2. Apply analyzed data to make recommendations of that range site
3. Calculate production per acre of the given range site

Standards:
Evaluate a range site and
PLSC.07.01.d make recommendations
Make range management
recommendations such as
PLSC.07.02.c water or stocking rates
Materials Needed:
 Range sheets
 Calculator
 Pencil
 Scratch paper
Plan of Action

1. Discuss each range management recommendation and what it would


mean to recommend or in what scenarios you would make that
recommendation
2. Give students two range sites and descriptions to read through
individually
3. Students will make two recommendations
4. Group back up and see what variation of recommendations we have
5. Discuss why they made those recommendations and discuss answers
6. Go over an example on how to calculate production per acre of a range
site as well as acres per animal per month
7. Give students a percentage for each of their two sites
8. Have them work through problem individually
9. Group back up to go over answers
10. Do math on board if necessary
