Post- Philosophy Statement
The outstanding purpose of special education in our society and community is to
provide equity in education for every child. The role of a special education teacher is to
help provide tools to maximize a student’s success. A Special Education teacher is
there to help motivate, and support a child in the needs that they might have. I believe
students with special needs work best when involved in a gen ed classroom, and
occasionally pulled for one on one instruction. However, I think all children need one on
one instruction when possible. In general, what are you goals for your students with
special education needs? A special education teacher needs to be patient and
compassionate. They need to be forgiving, and honest, and willing to go the extra mile
for their students. I strongly believe that all children can learn. Special education
teachers owe their students all of their IEP needs, and standards. I think that over this
course I have more insight to the children that have special needs, and will do my best
throughout my practice to embrace all students, and all opportunities.
