Dr. Molly Hand, Director
EWM Internship Program
405 Williams Building

Dear Dr. Hand:

I am writing to report on the praiseworthy work that Tomas Cabezas has completed as an
interning tutor in the Reading-Writing Center and Digital Studio at Florida State
University. During his time as an intern in the fall 2018 semester, Tomas has proven
himself to be an adept tutor and an integral member of our staff.

Tomas’s responsibilities included working with students who come to our centers looking
for help with their writing. The kinds of help these students look for ranges across a wide
variety of needs, including everything from instruction in basic grammar and syntax to
organizational, structural, and formatting issues. In his time here, Tomas has gained a
wealth of experience conversing and working productively with an array of writers—each
one with a different personality and at a different point in his or her academic or
professional career.

Tomas worked in our Johnston, Williams, and Strozier locations during the semester. In
accordance with his contract, he worked twelve hours per week throughout the term.

I have observed Tomas in the writing center, and my observations confirmed the glowing
reports I have gotten from other folks who have worked with him, including students and
fellow tutors: Tomas is committed to the work of writers writing and has been an
excellent resource for our students.

It has been a true pleasure to work with Tomas.

Sincerely,

Stephen J. McElroy, Ph.D.
