Grade 7- St. Arrowsmith Composition#1: Personal Narrative Text

THE THREE OF US
Friends are people you can trust and lean on. If you need help, they will always be there
for you. If you are sad or lonely, they will find ways to make you smile. In life, people can come
and go, but, true friends are special, because no matter what separates you, they are still your
friend.

I first met Elton and Onan in Grade 1. We were classmates and we ate lunch together.
The three of us loves to play games; we spent most of our free time playing and talking about the
games that we like. They made me a gamer and they taught me a lot of stuff about games and
even about life. They taught me that, there is nothing impossible to do. When something is hard
or difficult, we can do it, as long as we believe. They also taught me not to be bothered with
people, and that nothing else matters so long as the three of us were together.

Just like any friendships, we faced a lot of challenges, but one challenge was tougher than
the others. Two months after our Grade 6 graduation, Onan died in an accident. It was tough for
me and Elton. I remember crying a lot and not being able to sleep nor eat well for days. During
his burial, we launched blue and white balloons to the sky, as a guide for him when he goes up to
heaven. I was sad, but I know that Onan will be happy in his new place.

My life changed a lot after Onan’s death. I made a lot of new friends in high school but it
also made me value my friendship with Elton more. We remain close even though we are in
different sections. Our friendship right now may have two people in it, but we have our ‘gentle
giant’ angel who is always with us, that is why it will always be, the three of us.

LAND TRAVEL
Traveling is exciting and fun. It is a learning experience mix with leisure. We become
more appreciative of the blessings we receive. We learn to appreciate other cultures and meet
new friends.

Last August 25, 2018, my family, together with my mother’s friends, went to Dakak. It
was my first time traveling by land and I was so excited.

Dawn of Saturday, it was raining. Around 4:00 a.m., our service picked us up from our
house and we started our long drive. Our first stop was in Ipil, where we had our breakfast in
Jollibee. Our second stop was on a giant rooster statue in Manukan. For lunch we stopped over at
a carenderia in Dipolog and ate some fried chickens and nilaga na baka. A few hours later, we
reached Dapitan City. We took some pictures in front of the Dapitan City Government Center
and a few meters from the Center was Rizal’s statue that shows him landing in Dapitan for the
first time during his exile. After that, we went to Rizal’s Museum in Dapitan. We saw a lot of
things that were related to him, like the house that he once lived in, the school that he built and
some of his original pieces were displayed in the museum. After spending a good 2 to 3 hours in
another time, we hit the road again. An hour later, we finally arrived in Dakak. After leaving our
things in our room, we immediately went to the beach and the pool. Around 6:00 p.m., we went
back to our room to prepare for Fantasy Land. At exactly 8:00 p.m. we rode the bus going to
Fantasy land and we ate our dinner there, shopped a little, watched a very magical parade and
rode some rides until the park closes. The next day, we woke up early and had our breakfast at
the resort and proceeded to try some of their attractions. Some of my mother’s friend rode the zip
line and me and my sister rode some horses that will take you on a path in the forest. It was fun
at the same time it was scary. Around 11:00 p.m. we packed up our things and by 12:30 p.m.,
we left Dakak; we had our ‘late’ lunch at a carenderia near the Rizal’s statue and after that we
had a continues travel back to Zamboanga. By the time night came at around 7 to 8 p.m. we were
home.

The entire trip was tiring for me because I easily get car sick. But the entire trip itself was fun
and memorable, at the same time filled with new learnings and experiences that I will
continuously cherish.

MY FIRST DAY
“I’ll be fine…” was the only thing I kept saying to myself as my mom walked me
through the gate. It was a new year, in a new school, with new classmates and hopefully new
friends. I felt really nervous but at the same time excited. My mom told me a lot of reminders
while walking and her final one was a simple Good luck.

As I entered the classroom, I remember being super scared because my mom wasn’t there
beside me. The bell rang and my first day started. We were asked to introduce ourselves to
everyone and then we had a few more activities. During recess, I went and explore my new
school and accidently went to the guard house. The guard called the OSS to come and pick me
up and bring me back to class. After a few more hours of playing and making new friends, it was
already dismissal. I went back to the guard house to wait for my parents to fetch me. On our way
home, I told them about my first day in my new school and they were very happy that I enjoyed
and had a lot of new friends.

First day of school is something that we should not be scared of. We should look at it as a
chance to meet new people, explore our environment and a positive experience.

SCHOOL NEWSPAPER

When I was young, every time our school gave us a school newspaper, I will just keep it
inside my bag. But when I’m in my last two years in Grade School, I learned to love reading the
articles in the school newspaper.

One of the articles that I cannot forget when I was in Grade 6, was an article about the
house of our classmate that was destroyed by fire. I felt sad that time because I pity him. All their
things were gone. He was absent for a few days. When he was backed in school he was very sad.
They temporily leaved in their relatives house.

Our moderator told us to share some of our stuff and money to help our classmate. I have
always played with him to make him happy. I share my snacks and some of my stuff with him.
The whole class were there to comfort him. Some of our classmates bought him new school
supplies and other things that he needs. Our school, Ateneo gave him a new set of books. We
always pray for our classmate and his family to be strong.

As an Atenean, I will always practice and carry out the Ignatian Values, to help people
that are in need.

Grade 7- St. Arrowsmith Composition# 5: Anecdote

MY FIRST STAGE
When I sang my first recital song, I was so nervous, that I can even barely eat or breathe.
The recital was about to start, I saw many people watching us. My dad, mom and my sister were
also there to support me. They were all excited to see me sing.

When the program started, I prayed to God that He will guide me. My parents and sister
said “Goodluck, you can do it!” Then they gave me a hug and a kiss. The support of my family
made me strong and my nervousness was gone. When it was my turn to sing I felt relax because I
saw the crowd clapping and my family were cheering. My sister cried while taking pictures of
me and also my Mom cried of happiness.

After I sang on stage, I saw my family was very happy and proud of me. My coach, who
patiently taught me how to sing and overcome my stage fright, was also smiling widely. When
the recital was done I took pictures with my voice lesson classmates, new friends and my coach.
My family treated me for a special dinner because of my achievement.

My first stage is one of my unforgettable experience in life. I was able to overcome my

fear to face many people and to believe in myself. I’m very thankful to God that He listened and
answer my prayer.
