June 14, 2010 Longswamp UCC Consistory/Elders Meeting

I. In attendance: Bill Thomas, Kim Jenkins, Bob Friedly, Coralie Eck, Pastor Bill Albright,
Andrew Thomas, Jenn Kressley
II. Opening Devotions led by Pastor Albright – from the June 9 UCC Daily Devotional “Woe is
Me”
III. Agenda approved as presented
IV. Minutes from May meeting approved as presented
V. Special Reports
a. Longswamp Learning Center – Nothing to report
b. Treasurer’s Report (see attached)
i. No transfer of funds
ii. May have to transfer for summer, but that’s not unusual
c. Pastor/Elders
i. Membership review – 25-30 “inactive status” letters being sent
ii. Pastor on vacation 6/21 – 6/24
iii. Motion made by Andrew and seconded by Coralie to send secretary to
workshop (at discounted price) titled “Less ‘hurry, hurry,’ more ‘hooray,
hooray’”
iv. Recommended going to UCC legal council workshop on September 25
VI. Ministry Team and Committee Reports
a. Search Committee – Met yesterday (6/13/10)
b. Property Committee – getting written proposals from Fran about bells
c. Endowment Committee – Nothing to report
d. Worship and Music – Nothing to report
VII. Church groups’ reports
a. Church School
i. Some program for youth being discussed within a week
ii. Not exactly sure how it will look, but it’s for confirmation/post confirmation age
b. Ruby S, Harold D, Andrew T will be mentors for confirmation class
VIII. Unfinished Business
a. Nominating committee – motion made by Bob, seconded by Kim to accept nominating
guidelines as presented (see attached)
b. Church nursery scheduling – by August’s meeting, we should have a schedule
c. Facility use guidelines – progressing
d. Summer fundraiser – Andrew will look into summer chicken bake barbecue options
IX. New business
a. Church bells – asked for written proposals for bell options
b. Property committee – look over description for next meeting
