This study aims to describe and explain the conditions of short story
learning for students of MTs PSM Tirak, Kwadungan District, Ngawi Regency,
the implementation of creativity development models in learning short stories, and
constraints faced by teachers and students in implementing creativity development
models in short story learning.
The research method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive
method. Data sources used in this study are informants, events, and documents.
The informants in this study were Indonesian language teachers and students of
class IX MTs PSM Tirak, Kwadungan, Ngawi. Data collection was carried out by
in-depth interview techniques, observation techniques, and documentation studies.
Data validity is done by extending the participation of researchers, observing
diligently and thoroughly, and triangulating data sources. Data analysis was
carried out with an interactive analysis model, which was carried out in two
stages, namely during or during the data collection and after data collection.
The results showed that: (1) short story learning was only teacher-
centered and theoretical; in short story learning the teacher spoke more in front of
students so that the development of creativity aspects was minimal, (2) the model
of creativity development in short story learning was able to create a new learning
atmosphere that was fun for students, encouraged learning more interesting,
students were more enthusiastic in learning, encouraged students dare to express
opinions, can train students to develop their creativity through critical thinking
activities and create literary works, (3) the constraints faced by teachers and
students in implementing the model of creativity development in short stories,
namely students are less active in discussion and the teacher has not been able
being a good learning facilitator, students 'knowledge about short stories and poor
language skills, students' ability in creative writing is not good.
