Analogue Filter Design Examples

1 A low pass Chebyshev anti-aliasing filter for telephone quality voice processing is
required. The specification of the filter is given as:

Fp=3.4kHz Lp=0.5dB

Fs=3.4kHz Ls=26dB

(i) Design a passive filter with source and load resistance of 1kΩ.

2 A radio transmitter operating at 30MHz is interfering with a FM receiver in the range

of 90-110MHz.

(i) Design a passive Butterworth high pass filter for the receiver with the following
specifications:

Fp=75MHz Lp=3dB

Fs=30MHz Ls=40dB

source and load resistance of 75Ω.

(ii) Calculate the filter attenuation at 90MHz and 110 MHz.

3 An audio signal processing system suffered from 50Hz interference. A filter is needed
to reduce the 50Hz noise. Design a high pass 2nd order active filter with cut off
frequency 50Hz.
