LESSON 1 Submitting an Analysis

Model Description:
Refer to the Workshop #1 figure in the Seminar Notes. The analysis
model represents a 10x10x0.25 plate clamped on all four edges and
meshed with four CQUAD4 elements.

Suggested Exercise Steps:
1. Edit lesson1_work.bdf and review the input file format.

2. Submit this file to the MSC/NASTRAN solver for


analysis. To do this, find an available xterm window and
at the prompt enter:

nastran lesson1_work.bdf scr=yes

Monitor the run using the UNIX ps command.

3. After the analysis is completed, edit lesson1_work.f06 and


review the text result file format (the binary
lesson1_work.op2 results file which MSC/PATRAN
requires is not generated for this exercise).
