Introduction:
Structural Condition assessment is the technical survey of the building
in order to check its strength and stability, it helps in improving the safety, efficiency
and gives idea about the strength of the structure by detailed technical inspection and
performing Non-destructive and partial destructive tests on the structure. After
checking strength and stability of the structural members suitable recommendations
are given in order to retrofit unsafe structural component.
Objective:
Performing preliminary inspection of the building.
Preparation of architectural, structural plan of the building.
Visual inspection to highlight critical area.
Performance of NDT tests.
Suggesting remedial measures
Methodology:
Preparation of as built drawings
Preliminary visual inspection of the building.
Performance of Non-destructive and partial destructive tests.
Data compilation of various tests and preparation of report.
Recommendation of remedial or retrofitting methods for the suitable
structural members.
Future Scope:
Software modeling for detail structural analysis of structure.
Correlation between Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and Destructive
Testing (DT) of Compressive Strength of Concrete.
Assessment of concrete strength in existing structures using Non-
destructive tests and cores.
