To Lack the Knowledge of the Vote

People who lack knowledge about issues on the ballot should not be allowed to vote. This

is what LZ Granderson, weekly contributor for CNN, argues in his opinion piece, “Don’t Let

Ignorant People Vote.” He argues that just because someone has turned 18, does not mean that

they should just be allowed to vote. This is because even when people lack knowledge about

candidates and ballot issues they vote without informing themselves. This leads to individuals

voting for the sake of voting. To solve this issue, Granderson argues in his article that before a

person is permitted to vote, that person should be required to be able to demonstrate

understanding of how the government system works.
