Reflecting on The World of Books

My writing process began on September 9, as a brainstorming process were we wrote for

a solid ten minutes. After class, I heard Mrs. Williams discussing emotions; I explained, “I don’t

really feel.” She stated that was interesting so I took note of it along with a comment on the

graded assignment- how I thought reading trapped your mind. So I used this as background much

like in Superman and Me when the author used his learning to read as background. I added

details of my life to further my points and tips from the Project 1 assignment. Such as dialogue

which I used as an attention grabber. Like in Superman and Me I had my initial concept that

progressed into a larger idea; books taught me how to cut off all feelings and instead putting

another’s in their place. I reviewed it with Grammarly and writing center which helped me

developed my concept clearly in standard MLA format and fixed all of my grammatical errors -

cleared up my pronouns.

I critically analyzed and interpreted Superman and Me which we summarized and

analyzed. By looking at how purposes were presented and different types of rhetorical devices

were used to carry out these purposes- such as descriptive language and the development of

characters. I was given a basis of style for my narrative. I addressed my audience with clear

rhetorical devices like descriptive language such as “the fog” and formal speech, no slang, to

help convey my purpose.
