Biography

Vir Das currently has over 600 stand up comedy performances, 8 TV shows, 5 movies and 7
comedy specials behind him. He has created over 18 hours of original stand up comedy.

He is also writing comedic columns for Femina, Maxim, Exotica, DNA, BBC Top Gear and
Tehelka. He is 30 years old.

The Indian Express has called him 'a comedian to watch out for'. The Hindustan Times calls him
'simply hysterical'. Delhi Times has listed him as one of Delhi's Top Ten Dream Men. The
Pioneer has called him 'The Funniest Kid in India'. Verve has called him 'India's only true comic'.
The Indian Express has dubbed him 'India's Answer to Jay Leno'. DNA has called his show ‘ An
achievement of oscar worthy proportions’

His seventh, and recently debuted comedy special Walking on Broken Das, was sold out at the
India Habitat Center in New Delhi, TATA Theatre, St Andrews, Sophia and Nehru Center in
Mumbai. Every single performance of the show has sold out within days. It begins its world tour
in 2009.

In his new show Vir has created different comedic characters and is experimenting with different
styles of stand up for the first time. He performs spiritual comedy with his character Mystro Ravi
Darsaan. His band Alien Chutney gets on stage and performs musical comedy rock. He also
does anecdotal comedy dressed as an eighty-year old woman named Sara Sarabhai.

Vir ventured into movies in Vipul Shah's hit movie Namaste London. He also bagged the
starring role in Vikram Bhatt’s Mumbai Salsa, which won him critical acclaim.

In 2010 Vir can be seen starring in “Aamir Khan Production’s Delhi Belly”. He will also be
starring in Manmohan Shetty’s “ Shaadi of the Dead” . He has also just been signed as one of
the leads in a new movie from Yash Raj Films.

In 2009 Vir formed India’s first Comedy Rock Band Alien Chutney. Composing Original
Comedy Music in the Hindi/English space. The Band Consists of Vir on guitars and lead vocals.
Kaizad Gherda on piano and Vocals. Kabir Singh on beat and music production. Their album
drops in 2010, combining sophisticated music with exquisite stupidity.

Weirdass Comedy, Vir’s comedy company has also recently started Weirdass Hamateur
Nights. India’s first ever open mic for amateur comedians. After two successful shows at Blue
Frog, the property is now going national.

He also has a new sketch comedy show entitled “ The Phantastics” , which he shall be writing,
directing and starring in. The show will debut on television in 2010.

He is also part of the cast of HBO’s new comedy mini series entitled “Mumbai Calling” which
is currently on the air.

He was also recently signed as an Ambassador for Travelocity.com making him the first
comedian to enter the endorsement space.

History:

Vir returned to India in April 2003 and since then has performed over two hundred comedy
shows in all of the major cities. He has debuted six (1.5 hour) comedy specials written, directed
by and starring him at the India Habitat center. These include: Brown Men Can't Hump, Not
for Members Only, Bored of The Things!, Who Let the Das Out?, and Son of a Switch! and
VIRagra. Every one of these shows has sold out within a matter of days.

Vir started his career on TV when he hosted two TV shows on Zoom Channel. The first one was
Is Route Ki Sabhin Linein Maast Hain. The second one was his own stand-up comedy late
night show entitled Ek Rahin Vir. Although early for their time, they got noticed and put Vir on
the comedic map in India.

Since then,Vir has also hosted Top Drive getaway for Star World, Cricket Firsts, a sports
comedy show on Zee Sports. He did improvisational comedy on SAB TV's Lo Kal Lo Baat,
The Great Indian Comedy Show on Star One and Now Not Showing on CNN-IBN.

Vir was the host of News on the Loose, his own news comedy show on CNBC. The show was a
huge hit amongst the Indian audiences for its fearless brand of intelligent comedy.

Vir Das began his acting training in 1999 when he left for Knox College where he received a
Bachelor's in Economics & Theatre with a concentration in performance Knox was also where he
first explored stand up comedy with his first (1 and 1\2 hour) special Brown Men Can't Hump.
At Knox, Vir was given a Richter Scholarship for Theatre and the Colton Performance
Award for Outstanding Achievement in Acting.

During his time in the USA, Vir was a cast member in three sketch comedy troupes. The Really
Useless Improv, Improv Inc, and Illegal Aliens. He performed, wrote and developed 'Whose
Line is it Anyway?' style comedy sketches with them.

After graduating from Knox, Vir was accepted into Harvard University in Cambridge,
Massachusetts for their Stanislavsky Program in coalition with the Moscow Arts Theatre.
