 Preparing for the lab

•  Have the Oracle Linux virtual appliance up and running

•  Two additional empty virtual hard disk drives (sdb & sdc)
•  Ideally start from the initial imported state
•  Have a terminal/shell open to enter the commands

 Storage Management

•  Logical volume management using LVM2

–  More flexible than hard partitioning
–  Resize volumes and file systems on the fly
•  Setting up RAID devices using mdadm
–  Linux software RAID supports RAID0/1/5 levels
–  Transparent to the file system
–  Can be combined with LVM to provide flexible local storage
•  Encrypting file systems
