Their sons Carl Philipp Emmanuel, Johann Christian, Gottfried Heinrich... also used it for their attempts at musical composition. ‘Anna Magdalena’s little book is mainly a book of family music but it also contains a number of works by composers of the time. Works by Francois Couperin, Bohm, Petzold, Stélzel and Hasse, have also been copied into this 45 piece manuscript, where music for keyboard instruments alternate with the odd page of vocals. There were in fact too, ‘many modifications or omissions between Anna Magdalena’s copied version and the originals. Furchermore, the second French suite had only been partially copied. ‘The titles ofthe pieces selected are written in bold print in the frst, part of the index.
