Journal #6- Research Questions

I will be researching how exercise can be used as a preventative tool for neurological

disorders.

Some questions I need to answer are:

1. What are some disorders believed to have been prevented by consistent exercise?

2. What proof do we have that exercise prevents these diseases?

3. What are gaps in the data and research provided?

4. What can be done to close any gaps in research?

5. How would I go about researching how exercise affects the prevention of neurological

disorders?

These questions are important because by looking at both sides and recognizing my hypothesis

as well as any research that points to a null hypothesis will allow me to strengthen my research.

By filling any gaps in the research I am ensuring that I am providing the most valid and relevant

information, which strengthens my project. By observing other research projects, what they did

right and what they did wrong, I will know how to conduct the most efficient and thorough

research. This will help me to get my proposal approved as it will be evident that I will work to

provide the most accurate information. I will read and assess the abstracts of other research

experiments dealing with the same idea in order to understand what the researchers were looking

for, how they did so, and what they found. I will also look for statistics about neurological
diseases in order to see if that affects the term of my study. I understand already that most

experiments have not followed participants long enough to accurately detect the effect exercise

has as a preventative tool, and so this is something I would want to do differently. I would also

look for other areas where I can fill any missing puzzle pieces.
