Profile

My name is María Gracia Pesantez, I'm twenty-six years old. I was born and raised in
Cuenca, Ecuador. I’m studying architecture in the Catholic University of Cuenca, my
dream is to create huge buildings and so beautiful homes, with different designs and
everything my mind can imagine. The University teachers are very strict, but that helps us
to be excellent professionals. All my vacations my sister and me were going to Pasaje
because my grandfather lives there. In my free time my boyfriend and me go to the park,
cinema, mountains, beach and different places to enjoy the fresh air. I had two dogs but
one of them died because the dog was very old, its name was “LUCHO”. My second dog is
called “MATIAS”. Matias is very friendly and playful, but also very naughty. My last
vacations I went to Galápagos, this was awesome, because I could see different sea
animals, and so beautiful landscapes, this was an experience that I will never forget. My
favorite food is “Patacones”, and all seafood, but also love to eat “Cuy”, this the most
important food in my city.

Travel Experience
The most beautiful trip I ever made in my life was when I was in Galápagos. The first day I
visited the reserve called Charles Darwin, who was a very famous researcher and was in
Galápagos where he confirmed all his theories. In the reserve I could observe the most
important turtle of the islands, called George, this turtle died on 2012 and his body was
rebuilt because it was the last animal of its species. In the afternoon I went to the beach
“Tortuga Beach”, this beach is awesome, I had never seen such a beautiful beach and it is
considered the most beautiful in Ecuador. I visited different islands where I could observe
many terrestrial and marine animals. I could see a baby blue footed booby, and many
different birds. When I was able to visit the sea, the group of tourists practiced snorkeling,
where we saw sea turtles, sharks, sea lions. The last day of the trip was very sad because I
didn’t want to leave Galápagos, but I will visit the Galápagos islands again with all my
family.

The Lake of Busa

The lake called Busa is located in San Fernando, at a distance of fifty-five kilometers from
the city of Cuenca, this lake has a spectacular beauty. In the front of the lake is the hill
called San Pablo, that has a cross on its highest part where competitions are carried out of
the person who arrives first at the cross. Around the lake there is a forest where people can
camp and cook food, a place for nature lovers. Many people fish on the shores of the lake.
The lagoon measures approximately twelve hectares and has the image of the figure of
Christ in the middle of the lake. The climate in the lake is temperate, with an average
temperature of fifteen degrees. There is a large amount of vegetation which makes its
panoramic view reflect its crystalline waters. In the lake you can fish trout and carp. In the
lake live more than a hundred ducks. The has several scary stories told by the oldest people
in the area. The food in the sector is very delicious, where we can eat guinea pig, pork, trout
and many more dishes.
