M ATTHEW L EE

Gonbanwha, the extemporaneous extratemporal narrator

greets summer – sushi & tempura @ the waterfront, where wayfarers wade

through the warm miasma, emulsified indifference, & colorblind dreams

of glittering glory gleaming gold, straddling the scalloped oceanic divide

between I want & I want to want.

And it is in that undiluted heterogeneous haze one has the opportunity

to interrogate oneself, and, if one is patient but forceful, answer

one’s own questions. Yet,

we begin to squirm & scratch under an unblinking eye,

we yearn for and thus escape – distraction is our savior,

our protector, and our demise. To be continually in search of answers

is far easier than figuring out what to do with them.

With you.
