Field and Depot Maintenance Allowances
Sor
Setter, Fuze, Orientation, M24
This catalog is correct to 2 December 1952.
1. GENERAL. a. This catalog is a list of the estimated quantities
of component parts and equipment for the orientation fuze setter
M24, stocked for maintenance.
b. The Federal stock number column lists those numbers approved
by the Defense Supply Management Agency. These numbers should
not be confused with Federal standard stock catalog numbers which
are utilized by the Ordnance Corps for tools, lubricants, ete.
c. An explanation of symbols used in this catalog is included under
NOTES.
d, If stock numbers in this list do not correspond with those used
in ORD 9, the numbers in the publication of later effective date will
govern.
e. Additional applications of items listed in this catalog, if any, are
contained in the ORD 5-5 series.
J. For prices of items contained herein, see the appropriate catalog
of the ORD 5-3 series.
g. The major item, orientation fuze setter M24, is stored, issued,
and reviewed under ORD 3 SNL F-2. This major item is
nonexpendable.
hk. For full information relative to the Ordnance section of the
Department of the Army Supply Catalog, including its purposes and
uses, the procedure followed, and the principles employed in its com-
pilation, see ORD 1.
2. REQUISITION NOTES. If the exact item requisitioned is
not furnished, or other action is necessary, the nature of the action
taken by the supplying agency will be indicated by standard symbols
on prescribed forms.
Department of the. Army January 1953
TAGO 2212B—Jan, 200484*—68 13. UNIT OF ISSUE. The unit of issue column lists the unit of
issue for each item. This may be in the form of an actual unit of
issue, such as “oz” or “Ib,” or, as in most items, the term “each”
designated by “ea.”
4. QUANTITY INCORPORATED IN UNIT. The quantity
incorporated in unit column lists the required quantity of each listed
part incorporated in the setter.
5. FIELD STOCK GUIDE. a. The field stock guide column is
divided into three subcolumns:
(1) The medium maintenance subcolumn lists the initial stock
guide of spare parts and equipment estimated to be required
by a medium field maintenance organization supporting 100
major items.
(2) The heavy maintenance subcolumn lists the initial stock guide
of spare parts and equipment estimated to be required by a
heavy field maintenance organization supporting 100 major
items.
(3) The depot (30 days) subcolumn lists the initial stock guide of
spare parts and equipment estimated to be required by a
field depot supporting 100 major items for 30 days.
6. The quantities indicated in this column are for initial requisition.
They will be revised by the maintenance or depot organization to
conform to actual usage, which may be more or less than the quantities
indicated herein.
c. In order that the Ordnance Corps at large may be able to make
equitable distribution of the total stock of any one item, ordnance
organization commanders should limit their requisitions and stocks to
the absolute minimum requirements that are estimated to be necessary
for each contemplated tactical operation. The chief ordnance officer
of a force is responsible that various ordnance units in the force do not
use the same major items in computing their stocks; e. g., if there is a
grand total of 168 setters in the entire force, each ordnance unit in the
force should not claim the entire 168 setters as a basis for computing
its stocks. The chief ordnance officer must allocate, for spare-parts-
stockage purposes, the number of major items of the force among the
various ordnance units. See supply functions of the company.
FM 9-10.
6. DEPOT GUIDE. a. The depot guide column lists the initial
stock guide of spare parts and equipment estimated to be required for
issue to depot maintenance and all lower categories of maintenance
and stock to maintain 100 major items for 1 year.
6. The quantities indicated in this column are for initial requisition.
They will be revised by the depot organization to conform to actual
usage, which may be more or less than the quantities indicated herein.
