It provides measuring modes: % Transmittance, Absorbance and Concentration. The operating modes are: Single Wavelength, Multi wavelength and Sean The unit offers wavelength range from 340nm to 999nm, wavelength setting resolution of Iam, wavelength setting accuracy of + 2nm, and the spectral bandwidth of Snm, The grating spectral order interference is eliminated by a set of automatically positioned order cut off filters. The unit is equipped with user-friendly software. A 20 char 2 line alphanumeric LCD Display along with 16 keys enable the user to select, set and operate the unit with ease. All the measurement results are available on the display except for the Scan. EPSON compatible dot matrix printer prints the scans besides providing hard copy of the measurements. Added application software provides data processing like Peak Pick (Absorbance peak) of the Scan. Concentration measurement with curve fit (up to 5 standards) is provided. The unit can be connected to a PC through an optional RS-232 interface to provide display of spectra on monitor, This further adds features like: Spectrum Storage/Retrieve, Peak-Pick/Valley Pick/Point-Pick/derivatives etc. The sample compartment provides a TWO POSITION cuvette holder of 10mm path length, as a standard facility. Minimum sample volume is Iml in 4ml cuvette. Single position 40mmi/S0mm path length cell holder, factory installed, is optional. The unit is housed in a slim and compact cabinet with an ergonomically designed panel having soft touch key operation, THEORY When a beam of monochromatic light falls upon a sample, the fraction of the light absorbed is a fimetion of the concentration of the sample and the path length. The ratio of intensity of wansmitted light-1 to the incident light Io, is defined as Vransmittance T, Thus, T=Mo a) Mathematically it is found that - \ Inlo-InI=Kb Q) \ where, a k © a proportionality constant, characteristic of the nature of the absorbing solute. b> path length
