1. Course calendar
*Students can choose the topic(s), materials and class activities. These should be agreed on by the
students in each group. Your teacher should be informed of your choice by Week 4.
2. Assessment
a) Written test (50%)
b) Course attendance (10%) and participation (20%) – attending at least 11 sessions is required
Students who are unable to attend their group’s class are welcome to join another group. If this is
necessary on a regular basis, students should discuss it with me in advance. Below is my teaching
schedule:
Class participation means preparing when asked to, being punctual, completing learning tasks and
volunteering contributions.
c) Homework (20%): during the semester you will be asked to complete homework, either written
or oral (e.g. short presentations). This homework may be either individual, or pair/group work. The
deadlines for handing it in will be set during seminars. Generally, the deadline will be the next class.
Late homework will not be marked. If you cannot attend a particular seminar, please give your written
homework to a colleague who can hand it in.
Rather than perfection, completed homework should demonstrate that students have studied the
relevant materials first and that they did their best when working on it. Superficially done homework
will receive a low mark or a 0 mark. Likewise, plagiarised homework will receive a 0 mark.
3. Consultation
Thursdays, 15h – 16h, by appointment. Please contact me by email at least 2 days in advance to make
an appointment.
