Dear Mr. Alburger,

In my Pride paper I will be researching sports management because it is a career I have some
experience in already as I am a summer camp counselor for Fit Kid Sports. Sports management
is a topic I have always been interested in as my life revolves around sports. Coach D, lower
school P.E. teacher and owner of Fit Kid Sports, always ask me for advice for planning and
organizing of his sports camps, after school activities, and other programs he runs.

In my paper, I will talk about how to effectively organize sports teams and all the different
aspects of sports management including the business aspect. I also will talk about the different
career options that fall under the sports management field and describe those careers that are in
the sports management umbrella

My mentor, Doug Deffenbaugh, will help me with providing me with upfront, hands on
experience on how to advertise, promote, plan, and execute running sports activities and
handling different sports teams. Mr. Deffenbaugh has a masters degree in sports management
and has been in charge of the business Sports Connection, been the athletic director at Davidson
Day, and has ran his own business (Fit Kid Sports) for ten plus years now.
