Changes during adolescence:
During the whole period of adolescence the height increases by
25% and weight is increased by 50%. In girls, the growth spurt or rapid physical development begins between the ages of 8 and 11 and reaches a peak at an average of 22 years. Motor performance reaches its peak at an average of 15 years and in boys at about 18 years. Significant changes in the area of social development occur in the period of adolescence. Adolescence is said to be a period of heightened emotionality. It is a state of more than normal emotional experience. Logical, critical and analytical thinking skills develops at its peak.
