Electrical ConnectionsIntroduction
This edition of wiring regulations supersedes the wiring regulation for electrical
Installations first edition issued in year 1980 and building rules and regulations chapter 4
issued in year 2003 by Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority.
‘These regulations are applicable to electrical installations in buildings in general including
residential premises, shops, offices, small and medium sized industrial establishments, small
and large sizes public buildings.
Compliance with these regulations is compulsory, electrical power supply will not be made
available if these regulations are not met with their entirely.
‘The objective of these regulation is to provide wiremen, electrical contractors, consultants,
consumers with a general guide for compliance with SEWA requirements, rules, regulations
and wiring practice codes, procedures and formalities. And safety matters to safe guard end
users and premises from hazards arising by the use of electricity.
These regulations are not intended to substitute detailed specifications nor to serve as
an instruction manual for wiremen, consultants and contractors. Since reference is
made to the sixteenth edition of IEE wiring regulations, British Standards BS, and
International Electrotechnical Commission IEC, and to the appropriate AGCC
countries wiring practices.115

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Scope:
‘These regulation are applicable to electrical installations in buildings in general
including domestic premises, shops , offices ,small ,medium and large sized
residential, commercial and industrial establishments, small and medium, and
multi story buildings.
