Objectives : By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to listen to a story and pronounce
highlighted words with the correct pronunciation.

Teaching Aids : Big book on family, picture card, family tree chart.

Activities :Introduction
1. Teacher gets pupils to memorise their previous knowledge about family
members.
2. Pupils to sing a ‘family member’ song (where is father) together with the
teacher.

Pre-listening
1. Teacher shows a picture of Lisa’s family members and asks few questions about
it.
-Pupils to respond by telling teacher of what they see on that picture.

Main-listening task
1. Teacher shows a picture on the cover of a big book on Lisa’s Family.
-Teacher tells a story about Lisa’s family based on the big book shown.
-Pupils to listen carefully to the story and respond to teacher’s questions during
the story telling.
2. Teacher stresses on few highlighted keywords on family members found in
Lisa’s family (cousin, niece, nephew, uncle, aunty, grandfather, grandmother)
-Teacher shows pictures to introduce key words.

3. Pupils to listen and repeat the words pronounced by the teacher aloud with the
correct pronunciation.

Post-listening task
1. Teacher provides a box containing pictures of Lisa’s family members.
2. Pupils to take turns to come to the front, pick one card from the box and
introduce the person in that picture to the class.
3. In group, pupils will arrange the family members on a family tree chart provided
based on the story of Lisa’s family.
