FTP Adapter in EAI:

The FTP adapter enables an FTP application to be integrated with other

applications. The FTP adapter is useful in all Enterprise Application
Integration (EAI) environments that use FTP. EAI is the integration of
applications and business processes within the same company.

The FTP adapter can monitor incoming messages which are in the form of
FTP files placed in a remote FTP server or on local file systems. The FTP
adapter is also capable of sending messages to remote FTP servers by proxy
host.
