Portrait Photography 
 

Summary 
In this challenge, the student is supposed to submit 5 photos in the topic of “Portrait 
Photography”. 
Portrait photography or portraiture in photography is a photograph of a person or group of 
people that captures the personality of the subject(s).

Manual Mode (M) 

1. Set ISO according to the lighting of the scene.  


2. Set Aperture. A wide aperture is recommended when taking a portrait photo. Average 
values range from f/3.5-f/5.6. 
3. Check the exposure meter for the amount of exposure. 
4. Change shutter speed according to the light meter.  

*It’s always recommended to keep the light reading at neutral (zero) level.  

A/Av Mode (Aperture Priority Mode) 

1. Set the mode to Aperture Priority (A) Mode on the camera 


2. Set the ISO according to the lighting of the scene. 
3. Set the aperture (preferably between /3.5-f/5.6) 
4. The camera automatically adjusts the shutter speed to get a neutral exposure.  
5. Shoot the Picture
