Jacqueline Margaret Kay (Jackie Kay)

Jackie Kay is one of the Scotland’s most


well-known writers. She was born in
Edinburgh in 1961 to a Scottish mother
and a Nigerian father. Jackie was adopted
by a white Scottish couple and lived with
them in Glasgow. Jackie is an award
winning writer of fiction, poetry and
drama. In 2006, she was appointed
Member of the Order of British Empire for
her outstanding contribution to literature.
Jackie also wrote an extensively for stage,
screen and for children. Jackie works and
lives in Manchester, England. She is
currently Professor of Creative Writing at
Newcastle University and Cultural Fellow
at Glasgow Caledonian University.
