Rationale
I want to use as many different camera shots as I can in these productions, especially for my
music video as I want to do a music video for FMP. This will also help for late on after college. I
want to experiment with my music video (as well as my short film) but it all depends when and
where I’m filming, as well as who I will be filming. I want to try out a few things when it comes
to the unit through to the next.
Music Video: After researching into music videos for unit 12 I feel that I know what needs to go
into making one and using the right context, as well as filming it right. This will be my first
music video and I feel a bit nervous making this, as I’ve made mainly documentaries but after
the previous units I know I’ll work through it and get a good finished product from it. Because it
is a new topic for me I’ll be putting most of my time in planning, filming and editing. The
planning because I’ll need to fill out the shooting script and how I’m going to be filming each
shot and what’s happening in that space. The filming because I’m normally a bit behind with
filming or I don’t have enough time to film more, so I will start this earlier and get that done so
then I have more time to edit. Editing isn’t my strong suit so if I have more time I’ll be able to
focus more on making it look good and making sure the story is displayed properly as I
scripted.
Short Film: I’ve only made one short film and I can definitely learn from that to make it better
than that production. In last unit, I went into the camera development and camera angles and
why they’re used and what films they’re shot in. This will benefit me because I can then
compare this production to others I will later research. But I need to also research camera
angles again so that I can then experiment and choose some or all of them as I’m scripting and
making storyboards.

Specialism: Camerawork Music Video & Short Film
Project Concept
Music Video: I want this music video to be memorable, upbeat and colourful. I have an actor in
mind, I just need to contact him and see if he’s available. If I can get this guy, then it will make
the production so much better and he can contribute a lot to it.
Short Film: I will be having someone that specialises in comedy looking over my script and
giving me tips on how to improve. He is also in my target audience, so he will know what most
people find funny especially because he writes a lot of scripts and does stand-up comedy, he
can come up with ideas very quickly and I’m very lucky to have him helping me with this.
Evaluation
The crew list, locations and cast list will be very short as I will be working on my own. I have been
let down so much in the past that I can now work independently without needing any help.
I will be making weekly vlogs to keep track of what I’ve done and what more I need to do, and
also, to show that I’ve being doing work outside of college as well as in it. And if I haven’t done
something, will I have enough time to finish it? When will I have time to fit it in? I’m going to be
very thorough. I’ll also being doing a daily diary so that is more detailed, and I include everything
that I need to say and what work I have done. I will be very busy, and I don’t know if I will be
able to fit it in to make it in time for the deadline. This is the only thing I think I’ll be behind
on, this is the hardest thing in every unit that I struggle with and I need to push myself even
harder this time around and get a good mark.
Because there are 10 weeks, I will make week 9 an evaluation but I might add a small written
evaluation as well just in case I missed something.
