move along in the plot of Septerra Core. These are
unique
items that you will need to seek out and then use
in a specific
location, or in a specific combination, to achieve a plot
milestone.
These tables are organized by the game’s episode
s. Many
items are used with the same episodes in which
they are
found, while others will be picked up early in the
game and
not used until much, much later. Use the tables
to keep
track of your progress, and as a tool to jump into
the
walkthrough chapters, if you have already play
ed into the
game before reading this strategy guide.

Secrets and Sides


D evelopers often include secrets or surprises (a.k
.a Easter
Eggs) within their games to reward the observa
nt and dedi-
cated player. This appendix lists the various rew
ards the
developers of Septerra Core have spread throug
hout their
magical world.
The side missions are small quests that you can
under-
take at certain milestones in the game. The secr
et areas
are hidden environments that will offer unique
treasures
as a reward for the intrepid explorer.

Side Missions
The following three side missions give you a chance to mend some rifts between the
oddly matched members of your party. You don’t need to attempt these missions to win
the game, but they will allow you to learn more about your characters and gain some
benefits at the same time. The missions can be attempted at any point after they are made
available; so it’s totally up to you when to pursue these “extra credit” paths of adventure.

Corgan and Selina


Available After Episode 6: Masquerade
If you place Corgan and Selina together in your party, you may notice that they occasionally
lash out and attack each other during combat. This is because Corgan hasn’t yet gotten
over his hatred of Selina for the destruction of his hometown, Armstrong.
To mend the rift between the two, you will need to retrieve the Seal of Armstrong
(looted by Selina’s hired thugs, and the only thing that protected Armstrong from the
Living Dead). With Selina in your party, return to Outlaw Canyon. Use her to examine
the secret door to the southeast corner of the map (on the lower level). Selina will gain
access and a battle will ensue. After the fight, you will have retrieved the Seal. Now head
back to Armstrong and use the Seal item on the Shrine to mend the rift between the two.

Led and Lobo


Available After Episode 7: The Fall of Aspertine
Led hates Lobo because he is a Jinam Cyborg, the same sort of warrior that laid waste to
her country during the long war between Ankara and Jinam. She is also angry because
the Jinam-engineered plague that killed so many of the Ankaran population also killed
her mother.
To fix this rift, take Lobo to the downed Jinam Battleship. Take him into the medical
lab at the back of the ship (the same environment where you found Led’s Power
Converter). Here, he can download a digital cure for the plague. Now head to Gregor and
talk to Malcom, the dark-skinned villager who returned Corgan’s sword. He can now heal
all those infected by the plague; this will mend the rift between the two.

Grubb and Led


Available After Episode 6: Masquerade
Led has a crush on Grubb, but he seems oblivious. In order to get them together, you’ll
need to help them work as a team. With both Led and Grubb in your party, head to the
Ankaran Capitol, with Maya, and examine the door to the military headquarters.
Working together, they can open the door and go inside.
Once inside, Maya will leave the two alone while Led asks Grubb about his true
feelings. Before he can answer, the two witness some pirates looting the building. At this
point, Grubb must decide whether he wants to stay and fight with Led or go and fight the
pirates to retrieve the gadget they are stealing; it’s a tough call.
If Grubb stays with Led, they learn a powerful combo-skill that they can use in combat.
If Grubb goes for the gadget, he will recover a Core Engine more powerful than any you
can buy in the shops (at the time).

Secret Areas
This section lists the location of all of the secret environments scattered throughout
Septerra’s World Shells. All of these hidden environments will reward you with unique
power items that can’t be found anywhere else within the game.

World Shell 1
There is a secret environment that can be reached from the upper left floating island. The
entry area does not change your cursor, so you’ve got to just fly over it to access it (it’s just
to the right of the little lake). Inside the environment is a storage cylinder that contains the
Luck Charm, an item that only Maya can equip (it raises the amount of cash she earns
from each battle).
After the section of the World Bazaar has been raised in Episode 13 (Search and
Rescue), you can reach a secret area on the newly raised sub-continent. Inside the
environment, you’ll be able to find Slash Knives, a Soul Stone, and Sticky Fingers
(a unique item that helps Runner or Araym to steal).

World Shell 2
There is a small floating island in the bottom left-hand corner of the level. When you move
your mouse over it, you’ll see three question marks (“???”) pop up. In the environment is a
farm with a ghost child who runs away and into a well when Maya approaches.
A book in the Wind City Library tells the boy’s story; about how he died in a well. To
stop him from going into the well, stick to the northeast fence and make your way around
the perimeter (inside the fence) to the table and the well. When Maya gets near this area
she tells the boy to stop before he falls into the well. For her reward, Maya receives the
Holy Water, a unique item that protects against Undead-based damage.

World Shell 3
Available after Episode 8: The Conjunction
A book in the Wind City Library tells of the strange behavior of the Kalhi Crabs that only
come to shore to mate once every hundred years, after the Conjunction.
On World Shell 3, there is a small beach level right next to the Helgak Port (your
mouse cursor will turn into a “???” when you move it over the area). After the
Conjunction, you can find the Kalhi Crabs here and fight them to receive a Kalhi Crab
Shell Armor item and an Aqua Guard.

The Helgak Spirit Tree


Available After Episode 2: Betrayal at Wind City
There is another secret environment on World Shell 3 that can be entered from the World
Map in the small clump of trees to the far east of the main continent. This area has a tree
surrounded by five stones. By clicking on the first stone, you initiate a fight with a
Thunder Lion variant. When you win, you can click on the next stone and so forth. The
battles quickly become tougher and tougher. Although you can get there after Episode 2,
you won’t be able to fight all the way through until you are stronger. The following table
outlines the rewards from each of the five battles.

The Tower
This is the largest secret of the game. There is a tower to the northeast of the Wind City
environment that can’t be opened until you find ten colored pigeons scattered
throughout Septerra.
A little old lady (the one feeding the pigeons) in Southfarm will give Grubb ten seeds.
If you use the Seeds item on one of these pigeons, it will fly from its current location to the
tower in Wind City. Once all ten pigeons have arrived at the tower, the tower door will open.
Inside the tower is a treasure-trove of unique weapons and armor that will help you in
your final assault upon Doskias and his flagship. The following table outlines the object
you’ll find in the tower.

World Shell 4
The two secret areas located on World Shell 4 offer no mouse feedback for you; you’ll
just have to “fly blind” as you click on the World Map to find the exact location of the
entrance trigger.
The first secret environment is just west of the main World Bazaar entrance, near the
largest clump of buildings at the edge of the map. In this secret environment, you’ll find a
forgotten tomb with a mysterious ghost chest that cannot be opened. However, there is a
light on the wall (the cursor will change to a hand when you move over it). Move the cursor
over the light and click. The light will switch off and you’ll hear the sound of a stone moving
in the wall. Search around and find another light and do the same thing. Every time a light is
turned off, another turns on, until finally (and with a crack of lightning) the chest becomes
solid. Inside is a unique item called the Enkidu Bell, which raises your magical damage.
The entrance to the second environment is north of the main World Bazaar entrance,
near the north pole of this World Shell. Here you will discover a jungle environment.
After a few combat encounters, you will find a chest that contains a unique item called
the Restore Ring. This item helps to defend against all adverse status changes.

World Shell 5
At the southwest corner of the map is an island with a “???” level entrance that leads to a
secluded mountain-top retreat. Inside the chest, you can find a unique item called Mind
Barrier that protects fully from a Berserk attack.

World Shell 6
There is a secret entrance south of the Pirate Mountain Base that can be flown to only in
Lobo’s ship. The entrance is not easily spotted, but can be found by flying over the small
clump of trees to the south of the mountain range.
Inside is a secluded clearing with a chest. Inside the chest is the Touch Stone, a
unique item that only Maya can equip (it raises the amount of experience she earns from
combat encounters).
