World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is a leading conservation organization started in 1961 at IUCN’s

headquarters which is currently working in 100 countries. It has been involved in the
conservation of forests, oceans and marine livelihoods, protection of various endangered
species, doubling the food availability, creating a way towards zero-carbon world and increase
the use of renewable sources of energy. WWF has taken some of the most critical initiatives
towards conservations like organizing Earth hour in 2007 to increase awareness and action on
climate change and creation of national parks in countries like Russia, Bhutan and Spain.
Currently, 84% of WWF’s spending is towards wildlife conservation which includes 18
critically engendered, 29 endangered and 18 vulnerable species including protection of animal
species like tiger, panda, rhinos and elephants. Today, panda has become synonymous with
WWF’s logo.
