Population of Municipality of Santo Tomas in 2015 is 118,750

• Municipality of Santo Tomas is the third populous city/municipality of Davao del

Norte. The municipality’s population as of August 1, 2015 was 118,750, based on
the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015).

• The 2015 population is higher by 9,481 compared with the population of 109,269
in 2010, and by 34,383 compared with the population of 84,367 in 2000. Refer to
Table 1.

• The population of Municipality of Santo Tomas increased by 1.60 percent annually,

on average, during the period 2010 to 2015. By comparison, the rate at which the
municipality’s population grew during the period 2000 to 2010 was higher at 2.62
percent. See Table 2.

• Municipality of Santo Tomas has 19 barangays. Barangay Tibal-og (Pob.) had the
biggest population of 41,354 persons in 2015 and accounted for about 34.94% of
the municipality’s population. It was followed by Barangay Kimamon with 7,411,
and the Barangay Bobongon with 6,551 persons. See Table 3.

• The total population in Barangay Tibal-og (Pob) is larger than the recorded
population in 3 municipalities of the province. Namely, municipality of Braulio E.
Dujali with 30,104 persons, municipality of Talaingod with 25,566 and municipality
of San Isidro with 26,651 persons.

• Barangay Magwawa was the smallest barangay in 2015, in terms of population

size, with 1,610 persons. See Table 3.

Population density in Municipality of Santo Tomas increases from 535 to 493 persons
per square kilometer

• With a total land area of approximately 221.80 square kilometers, the population density
of Municipality of Santo Tomas in 2015 was posted at 535 persons per square
kilometer. This represents an increase of 42 persons per square kilometer from the
population density of 493 persons per square kilometer in 2010. In 2000, there were
380 persons residing in every square kilometer of land.

Household population comprised 99.67 percent of the total population

• The household population of Municipality of Santo Tomas reached 118,353 persons in

2015. This is 9,369 higher than the 108,984 household population reported in 2010,
and 34,400 more than the 83,953 household population posted in 2000.

• The household population comprised 99.67 percent of the total population in

Municipality of Santo Tomas, while the remaining 0.33 percent comprised the
institutional population or those residing in collective or institutional living quarters
such as hotels, hospitals, orphanages and home for the aged, corrective and penal
institutions and military camps. Please refer to Table 4 and Figure 2.

Number of households increased by 1,885 from 26,291 in 2010 to 24,406 in 2015

• The total number of households in the municipality in 2015 was recorded at 26,291
higher by 1,885 compared with 24,406 in 2010 and by 9,481 compared with 16,810 in
2000. See Table 5 and Figure 3.
