If you choose this option, then at the end of the semester, you will submit this third Signature Assignment. For this one, you will draw from the course material in order to explore a classic philosophical problem: about identity, fate and free will, the good life, morality, etc. The frames for these papers can be taken from one of our class case study workshops during the latter half of the semester. There are also several philosophical-problem-scenarios that I can provide for you, if you like, but you may also have a philosophically-salient dilemma in mind already…from a book or film or the like. (If you do choose one of your own topic/cases, run it by me first so that we make sure it would work for this assignment). You will write a 5-7 page philosophical-analysis paper, to be turned in on Canvas. Specific Instructions will be available under the Assignments Tab of our Canvas page. • Point-Value: 10 percent of final grade for the paper. • Format: formal essay with textual analysis. • Late Policy: every day late is 1/3 of a grade penalty (for instance, from an A to an A- to a B+ to a B, etc) I may grant an extension for you but only with at least two-days advance notice. If you come to me on or after the due date asking for an extension, you will subject to the late penalties.
