ADJECTIVE CLAUSES

A. Underline the adjective clauses once. Circle the relative pronoun, and underline
its main clause twice.

1. A Mustang is the most exciting car that is on the road today.


2. Joel is the only student to whom the teacher gave an “A”.
3. Ginger was embarrassed by a remark that was unkind.
4. The boy, whose jacket was lost, was very cold that night.
5. The citizens, over whom the helicopters fly, are irate.

B. Underline the adjective clause and choose the correct form of the relative pronoun.
1. The adjective (who, whom) found the prints was careless with the evidence
2. The criminal, (who, whom) the detective shot, was wanted in three states.
3. The partner, with (who, whom) he investigated the crime scene, was crooked.
4. The policeman, to (who, whom) he gave the evidence, was incompetent.
5. I believe that the witness (who, whom) testified about the gun was lying
6. He arrested a thief (who, whom) he caught red-handed.

C. Underline the relative clause in each of the sentence below. The relative clause may be
anywhere in the sentence.
Sample: A business that manufactures engines can be difficult to run.
