Why need to count soil suction?

-The variation of soil suction versus depth can be used to locate “moisture
sensitive soils” where climate and drainage are likely to have the greatest affect. The
suction versus depth profile can also help find the “active zone depth” of a soil profile
(McKeen 1988). This can be used in estimating slope failure and used to locate areas of
high movement of water within the soil.
