books.

 Dot art dabbers in various colors

Scaffolding: Children will be using their prior knowledge of letters to find the sight words. They
will also be using their prior knowledge of colors so that each sight word is stamped a different
color.

Procedure:

1. Pass out a sight word page to each child.

2. Make sure each table has various colors of art dabbers.
3. The teacher will call out a sight word for children to find on their page.
4. The teacher will spell the word out loud and write it on the front board.
5. Children will dab all of that word that they have on their paper. There can be more than
one of the same word.
6. This continues until all the words have be dabbed with a color.

DAP Support: Page 209 “With support, kindergarteners deepen their ability to think about the
sounds of spoken words. Teachers can help them develop an awareness of the smallest meaning
units that make up a spoken word.”

Open-ended questions: What other words can we play this game with? How should we label our
words next time (marker, crayon etc.)? Can you find any of these sight words around the
classroom? Can you find any of these words inside a book?
