Statement regarding accident on February 8, 2019

This morning an accident occurred outside the building housing the Millwork and
Fixtures facility of Blair Companies that resulted in fatal injuries to Tammy Hockenberry and leg
and ankle injuries to Bruno Allison. The entire Blair family is devastated by this event.

Our initial investigation reveals that at approximately 8:30 am, Tammy and Bruno were
outside the Millwork and Fixtures building. They were standing near a wooden structure that
would serve as an equipment enclosure for a pump that operated outside the building on an
exterior wall. This wooden enclosure was approximately 8'x8'x8'. The structure was open on
one side so as to attach it to the building wall over the equipment. The structure had doors on
one side directly opposite its open end to allow entrance and egress to service the shrouded
equipment subsequent to its installation. The wooden enclosure had been assembled inside the
Millwork and Fixtures building and moved outside to await installation. Tammy and Bruno
were apparently standing opposite the doors outside the structure with the doors closed when a
gust of wind blew it over from its open end. The enclosure rolled over them causing their
injuries.

Blair management is continuing to gather information related to this tragic event and will
release more information as it is confirmed. Blair has reported this accident to OSHA and will, of
course, cooperate with all agencies investigating the accident in every way possible.

In Tammy, we have lost a valued and respected member of our team. She was always
positive, friendly and willing to help in any way. She enjoyed helping train new employees.
Tammy had been active on our Blair Cares Committee with the mission to serve both Blair
employees and the larger community. She had been with Blair for approximately two and a half
years. We all join her family in their grief. Bruno is recovering from his injuries at Altoona
Hospital and has been an employee at Blair for almost seven years. Both Tammy and Bruno
work in the Awning Fabrication area.
